Has anyone noticed the rather disturbing trend this winter? Shiny tights have some how slivered their way back from Oliva Newton John's Lets Get Physical video and into today's, well, umm, not so physical, muffin-top infested shopping centres.
At first I didn't pick up on the trend. I must have been in denial because once noticed, I noticed they were EVERYWHERE. Which leads me to my next question - they may be everywhere but WHERE on earth are you actually supposed to wear them?
Determined to not dismiss what seems to be the hottest (and sweatiest) winter trend without giving it the thought it deserved I have come up with some ideas ...
The gym? Let me hear your body talk....One of the most acceptable places (for those who managed to escape the 80's) to wear a legging has, traditionally been the gym. But who needs the gym when the simple act of thinking about/wriggling into/and wearing shiny leggings is enough to cause you to break out into a sweat?
Work? Umm...sure some people in the office may appreciate the spectacle and the opportunity to get to know you, and the lumpy bits on your thighs a little better....I don't see the shiny tight as the best way to achieve a promotion (not unless your boss has a penchant for things tight and shiny).
Out? Depending on where you are going then shiny leggings could really make a statement, maybe its about picking the occasion .....Dinner with the in-laws? Maybe not? Drinks with ultra skinny girlfriend? Defiantly not. Dark thumping disco? Maybe...The lumpy bits could blend smoothly into the darkness and illuminate the distinctive metallic sheen ...
Advice from readers about where/how/when to wear this one would be lovingly appreciated...
