Melbourne for Visitors and Casual Cyclists

A new local guide has just come to our attention, right in time for the warm months ahead. Produced by Melbourne bicycle rental company The Humble Vintage, Melbourne for Visitors and Casual Cyclists is full of local knowledge, written for both visitors and local bike riders alike. On the back of one of the cutest maps of Melbourne we've come across, the Summer 2010 issue features themed riding routes, bar, retail and cafe reviews, opinion pieces and a what's on. One read of the pool to pier riding route and you'll be glad you own a bike, or of course wish that you did. If that's the case, the Humble Vintage also has a range of spruced up, eye-turning vintage rides for hire, yours for the day, weekend, or week. Distributed to bike hirers and a selection of cafes around town, the guide is free and available now. Email hire@thehumblevintage.com to get a copy or find out more.

Love. Wear. Return

How many times have we seen the most amazing dress, which costs an arm and a leg, but just can't afford it? Then you go over it again and again, telling yourself its not worth it because you will only wear it once, as everyone will have already seen you in it.  Ladies, fear not! Renttherunway.com provides a three-step solution to all your fashion and financial issues. First you browse through an array of A-list designer clothes and find a dress you love. Or two! Then you schedule a delivery date and your dress will appear on your doorstep, in two different sizes, just to be safe. Finally, you put your dress in their handy pre-paid package and drop in the nearest mailbox. Best of all, they take care of the dry cleaning! Ahh the Internet, how did people survive before it?

Excuse me, I’m lost, can you show me the way to Prada?

Just in case you’re ever in a Prada emergency you can always turn to your T-shirt! The latest edition to the Prada family is the souvenir T-shirt. It displays the floor plans for various Prada stores around the world, from places like Tokyo, London, Milan and New York. The chaotic design helps customers envisage the nature of Prada’s being. The unisex shirts will be available this month for the hefty price of US $215. Suck on that I LOVE NYC T-shirts!

Twinkle toosh

Twinkle toosh

I am sure all you women out there are familiar with the question, “Does this make my bum look big?”  Well now guys have every reason to give you an honest answer!

This wack-job of a creation is called Winkers. A Wink is the crease between you derrière and the top of your leg! The creator, (no surprise its a male) William A. Jones from Washington, is a retiree, father of five and a grandfather of seven. The idea came to him when he was perving at some female's behind. According to Reuters “He could have sworn that her jeans winked at him. He then thought that people-watching would be more interesting if their pants were adorned with eyes at the precise fold created by the motion of walking”.  Jones clearly has way too much time on his hands.

This takes the meaning of battering your lashes to a new level! I can’t believe I am saying this but these Winkers make Crocs look like Haute couture.

Fashionista’s put their best foot forward

With the GFC in full swing the statement shoe is making a serious comeback. Hailed for its ability to change up an old outfit for a fraction of the price of a new one, the statement shoe trend was recently evidenced at the incredible displays of the Spring RTW ‘09 shows with all leading designers producing pieces of art for our feet. There were giant satin clouds and fairy pom-poms for shoes (Givenchy, Chanel), beautiful Amazonian themed tribal wedges (Louis Vuitton, Dreis Van Noten, Marc Jacobs) and a large array of futuristic bondage style patent leather creations.

100 days in First Lady fashion

Today marked Barack Obama's 100th day in office and one of the highest approval ratings of any recent president. Like husband, Michelle Obama is also doing well on approvals ratings - that is, those of the fashion kind. Michelle has been credited with injecting serious Kennedy-style glamour back into the Whitehouse (and my was it needed). Its also been kind of thrilling (and somewhat rare) to see a both intelligent and stylish women rather than the usual Paris/Riche/Lohan brigade gracing the style pages....

Modern day Dorothy

It's hard to be comfortable and glamorous, so when I spotted these sequined Converse I had to have a pair. Better yet they are on sale. Pick up a pair online for $33.99 US.

My feet will look so pretty they will never want to go home!
