Seeing Double

Taking the age old wisdom, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade" seriously, Pakayla Biehn has taken her eye disorder and turned it into a rare gift which allows her to produce such mind blowing pieces. With an eye disorder, which causes double vision, Pakalya is able reproduce the way she interprets the world through her altered vision. In her Double Exposure Series, Biehn has created oil and acrylic pieces which resemble a slow shutter speed photo, allowing beautiful natural colors and shadows to reign free.
To see the world through Biehn's eyes make sure you check out her webpage, which showcases the new series : youshouldtakecare.com

Ride my bike..

As the weather improves and the days become long, what better activity is there to pass the hours than bike riding? That's what Matt Hurst from The Humble Vintage thinks, hiring out some beautiful vintage rides for a small fee. After breaking into the Melbourne transport scene, things are moving along smoothly, with three pick up store locations (Surface Pop Up, 11 Carlisle St, St Kilda, 1000 Pound Bend, Little Lonsdale and Rose St Artist Market, Fitzroy) and the occasional drop off from Matt personally. Celebrating Melbourne's culture and scenery The Humble Vintage Bike has recently launched the spring Melbourne for Visitors and Casual Cyclists guide, with bike paths and places to enjoy this season, available from Metropolis, The Paperback and all Readings bookstores. So if you're looking for something different to do this year, head to the Humble Vintage and book yourself a bike.

Fashion’s dark horse

It would appear that design duo, TRIMAPEE are more than happy to keep things dark this spring season, with their Spring Fashion Week Runway 2010 channeling dark colours and heavy detailing. The line features the majority of the pieces sporting weaved elements, something we're backing as the next trend. For something a little bit sexier this summer, match the weaved over garments with basic slips and don't forget to add some serious attitude to your footwear.

In a daze….

Following the increased popularity of creating short films in the fashion world, Sharif Hamza has blown the youth revolt out of the water with this wicked rebellion, "The Outsiders". Having used inspiration from the popular UK hit show, Skins, the models appear wild, carefree and look unbearably smoldering dressed in McQ, Benetton, Givenchy, Roberto Cavilli, Dolce & Gabbana and Levi's. This is one group of youth you don't want to mess with. To view the film, click here!
