Fugly Crocs dissed by Rabbi

Just because they are comfy doesn’t make it right! Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Elyashiv has just ruled that Crocs should not be worn on Yom Kippur. He states that they are “permissible legalistically but it is not advisable” due to their comfort factor on a day of repentance.

The Jewish Day of Atonement calls for leather not to be worn as an animal has died in order for that garment to be produced.  Yom Kippur is a time for being sensitive to life and death, including the lives of animals.

Personally, I think it should be a mandatory rule, for everyday. It really is a hideous shoe; perhaps Rabbi Elyashiv should be working in fashion!..... Watch out Anna Wintour!

Tram backwards

Tram backwards

It’s a typical Sunday morning, slight hangover and all I can think about is poached eggs and a side of mushrooms. My little hangover cure comes from Mart 130 (tram spelt backwards). This hidden cafe is the hippest breakfast place to go to at the moment. Located on Canterbury road in Middle Park it is the perfect place to hang out at on a warm lazy afternoon. They have all your egg requirements covered and if you feel like something a little lighter they have an array of fresh salads to choose from. That’s not to say they don’t have hearty burgers for the macho men either! From breakfast to lunch there is sure to be something on the menu to tantalise your tastebuds! All the food is well priced and the servings are generous. This place has a really relaxed and easy vibe, no pretentious people and no wannabes.  Just you, the paper and a feast! Ah what more could you ask for?

Fly Girls

Just when you think you have seen every possible reality TV show, the network comes and takes you 10,000 feet off the ground! The newest series, Fly Girls follows the route of flight attendants from Virgin American Airways. We will tag along with these jet setters across the country and watch them enjoy all exotic locations. I have always wondered how many of them have actually joined the mile high club, I guess it’s about time my questions are answered. Will it be chicken or beef? Cat fights or long flights?  The only way to tell is to get on board! The show has already been picked up for eight seasons and will premier in early 2010.

Bazaar is Bizarre

You gotta love the Japanese, they brought us Sushi, Hello Kitty and now Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni- makeover Barbie. I guess it's all about blond ambition!
In its September issue, Japanese Harper's Bazaar, has created a fashion spread called "My fair lady". Each photo replaces a former First Lady with a doll.

When a high-end fashion magazine turns to dolls for their models, it's time to give someone in head office the flick!
And if we thought there were not enough body issues with the youth of today, well after this it's welcome to the psych ward!

Since the dawn of time

Since the dawn of time

They say that fashion always repeats itself, and this season was no exception. London Fashion week showcased some interesting labels but American designer Jeremy Scott has taken us back, ... all the way back to Bedrock!
Scott's Flinstone inspired designs are quirky and fun. It's nice to see fashion being frivolous rather than practical.  His designs have covered the bodies of many A-listers such as Lady GaGa, Beyonce and Madonna. Even Brtiney Spears has used his designs in her "Toxic" video clip.  Bam Bam! Bring on the next collection!

THANH’s Temptation

Fashion's finest came out to play on Wednesday night for the launch of Melbourne's newest label THANH. Held at the Victorian State Library, THANH played on the concept of everything old becoming new. Beautifully crafted knitwear and luxury tights which took a nod from yesteryear knitting techniques combined with the finest quality Australian wool made the audience go weak in the knees. However, it was that show stopper grey dress at the end that made all the women let out a collective sigh of appreciation. THANH will be in store February 2010 - watch this space!
Your can check out all the pics on the icon.pr website.

Topshop dreaming

Topshop dreaming

Autumn is on its way in England and the US, so Topshop's new seasonal lines are ready to purchase at Topshop online! Kate Moss' new Autumn line focuses on statement pieces representing ultimate glamour. Examples include flamboyant 80's faux fur jackets which are all inherently oversized to convey an eye-catching old Hollywood reflection. There are also startling prints on chiffon that evoke a stand-out, floating image and the rock and roll chic look which combines slinky black dresses toughened up with studs and chains - a perfect look for a night-out.

Topshop's new collections for the Autumn/Winter season are fresh and diverse in image for all aspects of seasonal demands that take us to different geographical places and alternative places in time. ‘Highland Fling' brings the Scottish outdoors to mind through classic tartan prints and earthly tones of plum. An autumnal feel is represented in the military shaped jackets, hand-crafted woolly knits and accessories. Another line, ‘Marianne' takes us back to the 60's with high-waisted flares and metallic fabrics. The use of suede and velvet accessories are perfect finishers to heighten the bohemian look to a glamourous rock-chic image.
Find out more about the new collections at www.topshop.com and prepare your pieces for next Autumn in Australia!
Jump on the band wagon today by signing the petition to bring Topshop to Australia.
